Climate Vulnerability and Risk Assessment

As a GIS & Resilience Analyst at Fernleaf, I supported the City of Richmond’s efforts to assess climate risk and vulnerability across neighborhoods by integrating environmental hazard data with social and economic indicators.

Using FEMA flood zones, heat exposure data, and demographic layers from CEJST and the U.S. Census, I mapped areas of compounded risk to help the City prioritize adaptation strategies. I also contributed to the development of a comprehensive GIS database that visualizes these vulnerabilities at both the parcel and neighborhood levels, and provided technical support for the accompanying StoryMap used to communicate findings to the public. This work supports Richmond’s long-term resilience planning and lays the groundwork for community-driven decision-making.
